Facing The Trials Of Life (Part 1)

Trials, tribulations, and turmoil are all part of life. How to live and find comfort in these difficult times depends upon your philosophy of life. Non-believers respond to the situations of life using knowledge gathered from their experiences in this present world. The Christian’s direction and comfort come not from the world, but from the giver and sustainer of all life (Proverbs 2:6-8; 3:5-6; John 1:1-4; 8:15-18). Peter could see the dark clouds of the Neroian persecution gathering over the Roman Empire. There are times in life when comforting words of encouragement and reassurance are needed – regardless of the level of one’s physical strength or mental and spiritual condition. With this in mind Peter penned his first letter of encouragement to the Christians in the area now known as modern day Turkey. I Peter is a living letter of comfort, encouragement, and reassurance to all believers. It is a beacon of eternal truth that continues to burn brightly in a dark world. These great truths are expounded upon in this four-part series of small group studies. Each individual session contains study notes for the group leader, along with thought provoking discussion questions with scripture passages to consider in response. In addition, the discussion questions are printed separately as a handout for your group members. All materials may be photocopied for use within your small group.
